10DAYS TIBET QING ZHANG RAIL (CUSTOMISED)

DAY 1: SINGAPORE – CHENGDU

Assemble at Changi International Airport for your flight to Chengdu. Upon arrival you will be met and greeted by our friendly representative and transferred to your hotel.

DAY 2: CHENGDU – LHASA (Breakfast)

After breakfast, take a domestic flight to Lhasa the capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region. It stands on the northern bank of the Lhasa River. At an altitude of 3760 meters above sea level, it is the highest and least polluted city in the world. It is the political, economic, cultural, religious and communication center of the Tibetan region. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel to adjust yourself to the high elevation.

DAY 3: LHASA (Breakfast)

Today visit the world famous Potala Palace which is situated in the northern corner of Lhasa city. The Potala was the winter palace of the Dalai Lamas down the ages. The 5th Dalai Lama spent 3 years to reconstruct it. It consists of two main parts: the Red Palace and the White Palace. The main building stands at 117m in height, equivalent to 13 stories, with the Red Palace in the middle. The main construction includes tomb stupas of successive Dalai Lamas, and Buddhist Halls.

The White Palace formally became the office for each Dalai Lamas and for the rest work at politics and religious affairs. It is full of elaborated artwork and frescos and is made up of stone and wood. It also contains many precious works of art, including ornately decorated statues, sculptures and Tibetan paintings. Noon, depart for Jokhang Temple, the holiest shrines in Tibet, which is built by Princess Wencheng from Tang Dynasty. The main chapel is a four-storied building and integrates with the architectural style of Han,Tibetan, Indian and Nepal, showing the cosmological view of Buddhism. Next we proceed to Barkhor Street, located at Lhasa's old city. The street is full of stalls selling a wide range of Tibetans products.

DAY 4: LHASA (Breakfast)

Today we visit the Drepung Monastery, the biggest Monastic University of Tibet. After lunch, proceed to Sera Monastery and Norbulingka. Sera was a monastic university which is smaller than Drepung but with similar layouts. It was also once famous for fighting monks who spent years perfecting the martial arts. The seventh Dalai Lama started Norbulingka, also known as the Summer Palace in 1755.

DAY 5: LHASA – SHIGATSE (Breakfast)

Today we will drive to Shigatse via the Yamdrok Lake or known as Turquoise Lake, one of the three Tibetan holy lakes, crossing over Kampala (4794m). Continue to drive to Gyantse and visit the Phakhor Monastery in Gyantse. Overnight in Shigatse.

DAY 6: SHIGATSE - LHASA (Breakfast)

Drive all the back to Lhasa via middle road and overnight in Lhasa.

DAY 7: LHASA – QING ZHANG EXPRESS TRAIN - CHENGDU (Breakfast)

Begin with train ride by taking one of a kind Qing Zhang Express Train in the morning. The ride will take you 2 days, 2 nights, so you can enjoy sightseeing. One of the high-altitude railways in the world, Qingzang Railway also referred as Qinghai-Tibet railway links up Xining, Qinghai Province, to Lhasa, Tibet Autonomous Region, in China. Inaugurated by President Hu Jintao on 1st July 2006, the railway is named after its first two passengers "Qing 1" from Golmud, and "Zang 2" from Lhasa. Qingzang is the first railway to link up China with Tibet Autonomous Region – the last provincelevel entity in China to have a conventional railway, due to its high altitude and tough terrain. Meals can be purchased on board.

DAY 8: QING ZHANG EXPRESS TRAIN - CHENGDU

DAY 9: CHENGDU

Arrive in Chengdu and upon arrival, you will be meet and greeted by representative and transfer to hotel to rest and overnight.

DAY 10: CHENGDU - SINGAPORE (Breakfast)

Morning after breakfast, the rest of the day will be free at your own leisure. You may want to drop by the Panda Observation. In the afternoon, transfer to airport for your onwards flight back home with wonderful memories of a funfilled trip with Just Travel Pte Ldt!
